Ester is an Associate Professor at the Department of Mathematics, Informatics and Geosciences at the University of Trieste. Expertise: marine geology and sedimentology. Research focus: marine sedimentary processes through multidisciplinary studies of sedimentary materials in order to contribute to studies regarding late Quaternary paleoenvironmental and paleoclimate events; sediment facies analyses for reconstruction of marine sedimentary processes at low and high latitudes. Has participated in eight Antarctic expeditions. Director of the Italian National Antarctic Museum- section of Trieste from 2017 to the present
