Megan Heins (she/they) is a PhD student working with Dr. David Harwood at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she also completed a Masters (2022) on Cretaceous Arctic diatom taxonomy and biostratigraphy. She received her B.S. Geology degree from SUNY Potsdam. Her current research is focusing on the utilization of soft sediment clasts for biostratigraphic work to determine the history of Antarctic glaciation. She hopes to be able to contribute to the growing Antarctic record of past climates in a way that drives the science forward, and aims to pass along her passion for the science to younger generations.
