Sonia Sandroni is a petrologist and a curator (Antarctic rock and meteorite sample repositories) at the Museo Nazionale dell’Antartide at University of Siena (Italy). Her academic background includes a Diploma and a PhD in Earth Sciences from the University of Siena (Italy), and post-doctoral fellowships at the Department of Earth Sciences at the University of Siena. She participated in seven scientific expeditions to Antarctica within the framework of international (Cape Roberts Project — CRP and ANDRILL) and national research projects. Her research includes provenance analysis of glacimarine sediments (CRP, ANDRILL, and CIROS cores) and metamorphic petrology of crystalline basement rocks from the Ross Orogen (northern Victoria Land, Antarctica).
