Florence Colleoni

Glaciologist and Paleoclimatologist
National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics

Florence Colleoni is a glaciologist and paleoclimatologist at the National Institute of Oceanography and Applied Geophysics (OGS) in Trieste, where she has worked since 2018. She obtained her PhD in 2009 in numerical modelling of past glaciations at the University of Grenoble, France. Her research focuses on the evolution of polar ice sheets—from past to future—using coupled atmosphere–ocean and ice-sheet numerical models.

Since 2021, she has served as co-chair of the Scientific Committee on Antarctic Research (SCAR) programme INSTANT – Instabilities and Thresholds in Antarctica. As a SCAR representative, she is also engaged in science diplomacy, participating in COP meetings and other policy forums to communicate key scientific insights on Antarctica and its role in global mean sea-level change through time.
