Juliane Mueller is a geoscientist at the Alfred Wegener Institute in Bremerhaven, Germany, where she heads the organic geochemistry laboratories in the Marine Geology section. Juliane’s research focuses on biomarker-based paleoenvironmental reconstructions to assess past changes in sea ice cover, ocean temperature, and primary productivity in the high polar latitudes. She is particularly interested in how sea ice not only responded to climatic shifts in the distant past, but also amplified them.
